I arrived at the, not unimpressive, Liverpool Lime Street Station, met my friend, and spent the next hour or so with my mouth literally open-wide at how completely different the centre was compared to what I was expecting. There was a game on - but no one was killing each other. There was a lovely bustling Christmas market. Shops and restaurants gleamed around us - they weren't crumbling or even vaguely on the edge of falling apart. What the hell was going on? After a fantastic lunch at a Korean restaurant (they have Korean restaurants in Liverpool?), I was even more confused, which was not something that improved after a walk around the docks. The docks. AND THEY WERE REALLY PLEASANT? When are dock areas ever pleasant?
In short - Liverpool has some really, really nice places to go and...I would even go back. I'm sure there are some terrible areas, as with any city, and I was only there for two days, but I can tell you that we walked around a fair bit and it was all suspiciously nice. Crazy eh?
